An early morning ascent of Mantle Marathon (5.10a)...

Description

The left side of Slab City extends from far left side of the rock to Vertical Vee (5.11d) on the right, which climbs a prominent left-facing corner system in the middle of Slab City.

This is an easily accessible portion of the Quarry with most of the routes starting from ground level and requiring little to no scrambling to reach the base. Routes here range from 5.8 to 5.12+ and tend to be slabbier and less continuous than most of the Quarry routes, although exception do exist. Recommended routes here include the 1st pitch of Fetal Rearrangement (5.8), Mantle Marathon (5.10a), Shattered Dreams (5.10c), Hang Thang (5.10d), Microquarry (5.12c) and Synergy (5.12d).

Getting There

Once you reach the dirt road that paralles the base of the crag head left to the far left side of the crag. Plan on a 5 minute approach from parking on the street.
