Description 

Santa Monica Mountains rise above Los Angeles, widen to meet the curve of Santa Monica Bay and reach their highest peaks facing the ocean, forming a beautiful and multi-faceted landscape
Covering 250 square miles, rising out of the Pacific Ocean to a height over 3,000'. The mountain range was driven up from the sea over 10 million years ago. Weathering created rugged landscapes of canyons up to 2,000' deep with unique rock formations.
Located in a Mediterranean ecosystem, the Santa Monica Mountains contain a wide variety of plants and wildlife.


Climate 

Santa Monica Mountains have a dry, warm to humid summers and wet, mild to cool winters
