Williamson Rock is under a temporary closure to all recreational uses, including climbing, pursuant to a ruling by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service that the area is critical habitat for the endangered yellow-legged mountain frog. Efforts by the non-profit organization Friends of Williamson Rock, in conjunction with the U.S. Forest Service, are underway to regain climbing access to Williamson. Description
Located a short distance downstream from the Mushroom Boulder and just left of the London Wall, the Stream Wall is very popular and crowds here can be very dense.
Routes here run the gamut from 5.3 to 5.10d with interesting movement, many a climbers first 5.10 lead is gained on this wall. Routes tend to be shorter on the left and longer on the right. The classic Dream Speed (5.11a) actually starts on this wall and finishes on the London Wall. The best routes here include Scream Dream (10a), Silvery Scream (10b/c) and Feast of Friends (5.9).
Getting There
From the Mushroom Boulder hike downstream a short distance to reach a trail on the left that goes up a small hill before descending back into the streambed near the right end of the London Wall continue downstream in the creek bed passing a cleft in the rock which seperates London Wall from the Stream Wall.
