Description

This large block of rock is really part of The Super Dome formation that has fractured off and sits just astride the right end of the south side of The Super Dome. It has 4 established climbs (left to right): Sideburn, 5.12a (sport); Hydra, 5.13c (sport); Lion's Share, 5.10c (sport); and Sitting Bull, 11a (crack).

The 3 sport routes are very sheltered from wind and have a southern exposure. They might be good bets on cold and/or windy days.

Getting There

Park at the Northern Wonderland parking area. Hike nearly 1.0 mile northeast on the North Wonderland Trail. At this point, it will join up with a larger trail (that used to be a dirt road) heading straight north. After about 500 yards the Boy Scout Trail (to Indian Cove) will diverge off to the left and the North Wonderland Trail will begin a slow curve to the right. Stay right on the North Wonderland Trail for about 1.4 mile further where it joins a large wash [2.6 miles]. At a trail marker, head right (south) into the main wash system to where the wash makes a sharp left (east) turn. Follow the wash east (past a large boulder in the wash) where it makes a sharp left (north) turn. Soon the wash turns east again and leads to a tree and brush chocked series of shallow water pools (often dry). This is Willow Hole. From Willow Hole, head over a small rise and down into an open area. The Super Dome and Super Slab will be seen directly to the north (left). A rocky gully above willow trees leads up to Super Dome. Map, page 999.

This block is located on the right side of the south face of Super Dome, just right of Chief Crazy Horse.
