BETA PHOTO: Stegasaurus, 5.9

Description

I believe this route is mislabeled in Vogel's guide. It's route 3397 in the photo, but is NOT a 5.4. I believe it's Stegasaurus, 5.9, as listed in the indexes.

It's an attractive right-angling crack at the left end of the south face of Bronto Rock."Stegasauras" plates make for nice handholds along the crack & it gets pumpy as you pause to place your stoppers.

I popped off when a med-sized handhold broke off in my hand, about 10' up. I was caught by my second piece, a #6 stopper. It made me sad to break the rock, but the hold is still there & I think the rating unaffected.

med nuts & a large cam for up top
