BETA PHOTO: Grand Canyon

Description

This is a collection of two walls facing each other separated by a valley or canyon, hence the name. Routes are found on both east and west faces, so there is usually something sunny or shady depending on the time of day.

The rock quality is fairly decent and routes tend to average 50-80' with faces, cracks and even some mixed routes found here.

Routes to check out here include Grand Canyon Donkey Trail (5.10a) a thin slab that crosses a dike visible from the parking area, For Peter (5.11c) another climb with a dike involving some wild moves and The Woodshed (5.11d) a tricky thin crack that will grab your attention.

Getting There

From the Split Rock parking area follow a climber's trail southwest, aiming for a wall with a distinctive diagonal dike system clearly visible on the approach. Turn left into a bushy, rock-filled valley after 200 yards to access the base of this wall.

This east-facing wall with the dike is the Grand Canyon Wall, and the west-facing wall across the valley goes by the same name. Routes are found on both these walls as well as the backside (west face) of the wall with the dike.
