John Yablonski Rock-West-side.

Description

This large formation just to the south of Cap Rock has a few nice routes on it. A paved nature trail surrounds the formation and passes by several bouldering routes. The routes are all easily identified and the short approach and easy walk from Ryan campground (1/4 mile NW) make this area a good one if your stuck without a car.

Getting There

From Cap rock, the John Yablonski rock is the large formation just southof cap rock. The low angled slab containing Hartman (5.6) is easily visible from Cap Rock.

Was this rock named in memory of Yablonski or was he one of the primary developers of routes on it? Just curious.

Although John did do the first known route on the formation (Meteorite Crack), the rock was named named many years later, in memory of Yabo.
