Loose Lady

Description

On the southwest side of the Real Hidden Valley clump is a prominent eighty foot buttress - the Houser Buttress - which is home to the popular Loose Lady as well as a number of other routes on the surrounding blocks. Getting to the base of many of the routes involves a bit of scrambling.

Notable climbs here include Lucky Lady (5.8), Dummy's Delight (5.9), Loose Lady (5.10a) and Hidden Arch (5.11d).

Getting There

A well-marked trail starting from the Real Hidden Valley parking lot leads west along the southern edge of the rocky hillside directly to the Houser Buttress Area. Plan on about 5 minutes for the walk plus a bit more time to reach the base of your chosen route.

Once up at the base of Houser Buttress the climb will be obvious as a left-facing arching crack/corner system down and left from Loose Lady. A bit of easy scrambling leads down to the base. Face climbing past two bolts (5.10) leads to the base of the arch where ...[more]   Browse More Classics in CA

As an alternate to the Lost Horse Road, hiking past this area can take one out to the Arid Piles.
