BETA PHOTO: The Negropolis as seen from the Chocolate Boulders...
Description
This is the name given to the collection of brown formations sitting high on the west face of a rocky hillside. The actual Negropolis formation is the pillar with the climbs Tap Dancing and Dance On Fire, but the name is loosely used for all of the rocks on the hillside. Rock quality here tends to be quite good and the expansive views from the climbs make the approach well worth undertaking.
Recommended climbs here include B For Beers (5.10a), Girls In The Mist (5.10d), Tap Dancing (5.11a R) & Dance On Fire (5.11a R).
Getting There
Located 3.4 miles from the Park entrance, 0.4 miles from the Pet Cemetery and 2.4 miles from Trashcan Rock on the east side of the road. Parking is available in a small dirt pullout on the west side of the road (right if driving into the Park) directly across from The Negropolis. Cross the road and follow a worn trail that ends at some dark brown boulders (the Chocolate Boulders) at the base of the hillside. From here work your way up through boulders to the base of the crags. Plan on about 15-20 minutes for the approach.
