From the ASCA:"Smoke-A-Bowl" - The protection bolt was replaced. There is a newer direct finish up the arete past three bolts to a bolted belay at the ledge; old hangers were replaced with modern ones on this finish. ASCA 2/02

I don't know that the "a steep face and crack" description really covers much of anything on this climb.

A thin crack/crimp-edge gets you up a small ramp and to a stance in a triangular dihedral with a small roof. Clip the bolt and bypass the roof to the right, traversing farther right to a rib the follows up an open dihedral. There's a crack for pro, but after the first couple moves you have bomber jams and/or a rib to use for some easy climbing. A bolt anchor is on the platform to your left.
