Description

King Otto is a monolithic looking formation that features some very challenging face routes. The rock springs straight off the flat desert floor, rising steeply, which lends it an intimidating air. Once you get on it, you'll come back for more! This formation has campsites at the base so please check with campers (often non-climbers) before invading and climbing! Please respect the occupied campsite rules and don't climb any route starting from a campground without the camper's consent. Routes to do here include Sweat Band (5.10b), Goodbye Mr. Bond (5.10c) and Panama Red (5.11c).

Getting There

The formation is kind of in the middle section of the campground. You can reach it when driving into Indian Cove by going left past Billboard Buttress, then taking a right just after. King Otto's Castle is about 150 meters up on the right side, facing the road.
