Description

Jailhouse Rock is a jumbled up kind of an area over at the far west end of Indian Cove. There are three short routes listed in the guidebooks, although I'm not sure any of them are worth the effort. There are some interesting dikes and crystals to check out on the more or less south-facing rock.

Getting There

Park at the loop at the far west end of the family campground road. You will be looking at a north-facing, low angle slab with a couple of prominent dikes cutting through it. A lot of people call this slab Jailhouse Rock, but it's not -- it's Nature Trail Wall. For Jailhouse, walk south on a well-esstablished trail about 50 yards or so and hang a left behind the corner of the formation. There is a small flat area, but you have to do a little bit of scrambling up the wide gully to get to the climbs. Cellbound (5.5) is at the top of gully (right side of the south face), and the other two climbs are a bit left of Cellbound. Head north from the top of the climbs to the obvious descent through the gully between Jailhouse and Nature Trail rocks.

The North face of this rock is a slab with 3 bolted lines and a 5.3 quartz dike. What is this called? The routes, left to right are:
5.7 bolted, 5.8 bolted, 5.3 dike, 5.6 bolted. All grades estimated...

EDIT: Answer is that it is Nature Trail wall.
