Any route or boulder problem that starts out of or near an occupied campsite may not be done without first obtaining the campsite occupant's permission.

Description
This polka dot covered gray and brown crag is guaranteed to be cool and uncrowded. On the right end is an excellant moderate splitter finger and hand crack called Wild Goose Chase 5.8+ **. In the middle are thin triple cracks 5.8+ **. Just left of center is a clean brown buttress with two TR's (Bolting ban). Both are 5.10 a/b **.
Getting There
This cliff is on the way to the "Slatanic area." You go up Rattlesnake cyn. until just below "The Bulkhead" and then head left up the gully which leads east up the mountainside. Follow the gully until you can traverse up and right onto a small plateau area. The "Polka Dot Wall" is 200' down the first gully to the west. If you are going to the "Slatanic area" traverse west past the top of the "Polka Dot Wall" and drop 100' or so down the next gully till you can traverse farther west until directly below the routes.
"No,but sometimes it's just nice to leave a sense of mystery and adventure for the next guy. Not everything needs to be documented to death. There are plenty of overdeveloped areas for that already."
And then give GPS coordinates to an area. There's little enough adventure in JT w/o giving out waypoints to out of the way crags.
Actualy We found it highly ironic that we had to pack out trash found on top of the formation! Pick up after yourselves people!
There's a very complete govt sponsored list of the gps coordinates of almost every formation and feature in the park remote or otherwise. J Tree is even in its most remote areas, "developed".If this info keeps people from trampling all over the place creating braided dead ended trails looking for this formation it will have served its intended purpose. Its description on this website will insure its popularity in any case.
I'd never think of devulging that kind of info for many places I've been, but not in the park.
This was much easier to find than I thought it would be and worth the hike. A couple of hints about getting there; its pretty much right behind the bulkhead and it can be seen from the billboard area as a smooth dark wall above and slightly to the right of the bulkhead
