BETA PHOTO: Hodgepodge Rock - North Side
Description
The north face of Hodgepodge Rock is a good choice for toproping with groups and escaping the often blistering heat that gives Indian Cove the nickname "Indian Stove".
Getting There
From the main entrance road to Indian Cove, turn right along the Group Camping road. Hodgepodge lies between Group Sites 4 and 5, 30' south of the road. The north-facing wall is heavily pock-marked.
The anchors on the formation are deffinatly still suspect. There are however two new anchors that are bomber facing the campgrounds. The others are strewn here and there in some odd placements. If top roping bring long webbing/cord to avoid rope drag. There is a walkup that can get dicey but it is very doable. Easy to very difficult routes available and fun. Super easy out of the car belaying. Yesterday, I attempted "My Wife is an Alien" 5.12's on a top rope. Made it to the second bolt and found it perplexing to say the least. Finally on the face with a "little help from my friends" made a few moves with confidence, then yarded up the rope. It calls me back.................
