The north Face of Snickers is a wall that is always in the shade and consequently nice on hot days. It is right next to the southwest side of Little Hunk, so it's a location with shade and sun in close proximity. The rock features a lot of good gray varnish, and is heavily lichenated in spots. Destination routes include the cracks Crime of the Century (5.11a), Funny Bone (5.8), Norwegian Wood (5.9) and Don't Think, Just Jump (5.10a). There are a couple of newer bolted routes as well - Humerous (5.10b) and Joyride (5.11c). This is a good area for children as there are no chasms or drop-offs and the car is never too far away.
Getting There
Located 1/4 mile directly east of Echo Rock and south of Little Hunk. The Vogel book shows all routes left of "Don't Think, Just Jump" incorrectly. The Bartlett Book doesn't really show good detail of the face but is usable to figure out the routes.
RFI - As Dave mentions, there is a newer route between Norwegian Wood and Frankenwood. Looking for name/FA. Quality route, good bolt spacing. Not really a fan of the "cold shut" anchors at JT. This route has them ( although not home made, fairly high techy ), although they are fairly high. They aren't as ugly as the anchors across the way, around the corner from Roofing Co./Monkey Bus, those shuts are just freaking UGLY! With the convience anchor not 15' away on the top, one wonders why there needs to be two sets ( or even one, but that's a different conversation ).
Also curious about FA/name of the route left of COtCentury. The anchor seems perilously close to the seldom done second pitch of COtC, not to mention the top of Funny Bone. I assume the eyesore bolt off the belay is part of an unfinished second pitch.
Is it just me or do the light brown camoflauged bolts stand out more than standard silver on JT patina?
Murf: All your questions are now answered. Have added the two routes mentioned to the database [Joyride 11c & Humerous 10b]. Both are worth doing; Joyride needs more ascents to clean up the upper section so it will be even better. As for the anchors, well some of these are sport routes, so I guess it comes with the territory.
