Beale Cliff is a prominent feature of Caruthers Canyon on the southern flank of New York Mountain in the Mojave National Preserve. It consists of sandy quartz monzonite and it faces south with dramatic views of Lanfair Valley.
Getting There
From Interstate 15 travel east on Nipton Road for about 3.5 miles and turn south on to Ivanpah Road. Follow this road (travel turns to dirt) for approximately 24 miles and turn west on New York Mountain Road. Travel mostly westward about 5.5 miles to the mouth of Caruthers Canyon. Turn north and travel about 2 miles, bearing right when you can. Park at the picnic area and hike along the old, worn-out mine road. The crag is in the right fork of the streambed about a quarter mile from the parking area.
A 4WD vehicle is recommended.
