Larry Harris on the main face of Big Rocks.

Description

The large Dome with huge caves. You'll pass it if you head out to Mr. Lee's. It is approx. 2+ miles from Hwy 166 on the main road. The rock quality varies from bad to good. Never really gets great. However, you are in a wilderness setting, stunning surroundings, tons of routes, and easy approaches. If you like variety, and enjoy Pinnacles type rock, you'll enjoy your visit here. Please wear a helmet! There are now over 25 routes here. Most everything is between 5.6 and 5.10, with about 4 or 5 exceptions. Too hot to climb here in the summer - Go to Miller's or the Tor. Closes in the winter after rains (river crossing) and avoid up to a week after rains. Let the rock dry or you'll destroy the routes. Seriously.
Access: Avoid any routes with nesting birds. Check always, but mostly between Feb. to July. Tread softly and beware of yahoo hunters (seriously).

Getting There

Head up the main road from Rock Front Ranch past Owl Tor, about 2+ miles and you can't miss it.
