California Water

Forgive my ignorance, but everything I hear about California right now is how dire things are in terms of water. I'm about to head down there for some vacation and am curious about the status of water at a few of the climbing venues down there:

Half Dome: Anybody who's been up to the base of the NW Face know if the spring is still running right now?

The Hulk: I was down there last year around labor day and finding water was a bit of a chore. Does anybody that's been up there recently know how far from the base you have to camp in order to have easy access to water?

The Needles: Never been here, so I don't know that camping beta that well, but poking around MP, it looks like water is procured from the Ponderosa Lodge?

Anyway, I imagine that this query is overkill and that it's not really that dire, but figured it'd be worth checking before committing to a venue. Thanks for the beta.

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but Half Dome will likely be a no-go....there is a fire that just caused evacuations.

You must bring your own H2O to the Needles, same as always.

Springs dry up almost every year, but its not as bad as the newspapers report.... the rivers are still running, Courtwright is still a lake...

come on down, the real California season is just starting.

Yeah, but holy cow is the lake low. It is really dry in the Sierra this year. I've never seen it in such a tinder box state. That said, it sort of guarantees splitter weather!

The hurricane down south has brought some interesting weather this week. No rain here yet, but I think other places are getting some precipitation.

J. you know THAT lake can go..... And comeback that nite!!!

But yes, it is pretty low right now.

It rained some on my drive into the SFV this am, should help keep the dust down at Stoney.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
