Cala Barques Rock Climbing
BETA PHOTO: The Cova area of Cala Barques.
Cala Barques is located East of Manacor on the central East Coast of Mallorca. It is very scenic and has some great intermediate to difficult deep water soloing routes to play around on.
According to locals, there are regular break-ins to cars. Do not leave anything of value in your car. Leave your car with the glove compartment open and any shade over the cargo area of your vehicle removed to show that there is nothing worth stealing.
From Manacor, follow MA-4015 toward Calas de Mallorca until it dead-ends into MA-4014. Go left for 150 meters and make a right-hand turn down a dirt road. Drive down as far as you can and park on the left--it's best to turn your car around before you park to make departure easier. Walk the rest of the way down the dirt road, until reaching a chained gate, squeeze through the gate and follow the train 10 minutes to the beach.

This route starts the same as Fortuna and then traverses right, up through the roof. Its easy climbing (5.9) up until the roof and then a good jughaul on perfect limestone. enjoy! ...[more] Browse More Classics in International

Go Here! If you are new to DWS or just want to check out a cool area this is the place. Everything about this place is amazing. Cala Barques offers some great camping, but please do you part to pick up after yourself and Leave No Trace. There are way too many fire rings and toilet paper and cooking equipment left behind. It seems people camp here and leave some items for others to use. Please pack out what you pack in, and dig a cat hole for your poop. Fires are prohibited so don't have one, and keep a low profile when camping. Camping on the island is illegal but you should not be bothered if you aren't making an impact. The camping is about a 5 second walk to the beach, a 2 minute walk to the Cove and a 3 minute walk to Metrosexual and Snatch Caves. There is also some good DWBouldering on the sides of the cove and Metrosexual.
