This SSW facing cliff is in the sun almost all day. The two routes that have been reported are "Cactus Pete's" 5.10a/r * and "Bury Me With My Boots On" 5.9 pg/r *. BMWMBO is 3 pitches of runout face climbing near the middle of the wall and CP is the straight up seam to the left with a couple of bolts (2 pitches).

Getting There

See approach for the Upper Dodge City. Go there and continue through the notch mentioned before to the sunny wall on the right. There is a great view of the North Wonderland from here.

Bury Me With My Boots On 5.10- 6a 18 VI+ 18 E1 5a CA : Joshua Tree National Park : ... : Cactus City
Start as for Cactus Pete's and then climb out right to the 2 bolt belay that is easily seen from the ground (about 40-50' up). Climb a 165+' pitch up and right then straight to the second hanging belay (2 3/8" bolts) past 6 (?) bolts. This route is a bit less run out than Cactus Pete's but roughly the same difficulty. It also boasts of rolling crystals for excitement (smear, tap toe, smear again!)....[more]   Browse More Classics in CA

Went to Cactus City with a true local, Mr. Todd Gordon, and he turned us on to a better approach. Go up Rattlesnake Canyon until JUST past the Pyramid. Turn right and scramble up to a notch. From the notch the large face of Cactus City is visible. Head on over!
