Does anyone have any recommendations for the best places to boulder near Wilmington? Also if anyone knows where I can rent a crash pad that would be killer (or if anyone around here has one they would rent to me, I would pay well!). Thanks!

You are out of luck for nearby bouldering. The closest is probably Asheboro about 3 hours away or Moores wall about 3.5 hours away. Asheboro is a winter destination and will be way too hot this time of year, but Moores can be ok in the summer since the main area stays shady. You need to be a member of the Carolina Climbers Coalition to go to Asheboro, but it's well worth it, plus you are supporting access to lots of great crags in NC and SC.

Feel free to PM me if you want to link up sometime, I drive to climb and boulder pretty often when there's no waves and depending on the weather.

Also, there is a new gym getting ready to open that you can check out on Facebook called Wilmington Rock Gym.

Wilmington is a swamp on top of ancient sand dunes.
You could try the spirit rock in front of hoggard high school

There's a limestone outcropping on the beach in Kure Beach. I would not recommend it.

You could break into the limestone quarry in Castle Hayne.

Buy a boulder and have it trucked in.

There's actually some boulders in Durham and Chapel Hill.

I have a 25' four sided tower in my backyard. In Wilmington. Not the same as real rock but keeps me strong.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
