Educating yourself on the topic AND finding an experienced mentor are paramount to good bolting practices. Different areas will have different common practices for fixed hardware. Talk to an experienced local. American Safe Climbing Organization.

And, in my nicest, trying not to sound like a jerk, voice:

Bolting is something that requires some skill and experience. I suggest you TRY and come across as moderately well informed on climbing "stuff" before asking advanced questions on life support gear.

Start with spelling GRANITE correctly.

Well put, Matt. Installing hardware for the purposes of keeping people safe for many years to come comes with the heavy burden of research and self-educating and/or being mentored. Just as a side note to [indirectly] answer the op question: You should be equally concerned with the environmental properties of an area as you are with the type of stone you're installing the hw in. Iow, there are no hard and fast rules that say, for example, "stainless in granite, carbon steel in sandstone..", etc.

And [ALSO] in MY nicest, trying not to sound like a jerk, voice: Bolt responsibly.

Buy your bolts from some dirty, nappy-head guy hanging around the local gym. He'll also tell you how to put them in the rock if you supply the PBRs, bro and give him a lift for his dispensary refill run.

Say, do you have a $20 he could borrow?

Yeah?

How about two twenties?

Thanks mate..
The thing is that I am a Norwegian (thats were my sloppy english comes inn!), bolts are cheeper in the states than Norway. I was hoping someone could point me in the direction for good cheep bolts in the US. If not I will keep buying expensive bolts in Norway (which means less bolts I guess).
Thanks anyway bro..

That's cool man. Better to include that info in the future when posting something like that.

PM sent.

I've had good experiences here:

fastenmscstore.com/pobypo.html

These are high quality bolts. I would go with 3/8" x 2-1/4" for granite.

So do you come to the U.S. often and plan to buy the bolts and take them back on the plane? Otherwise shipping just is going to eat up any savings you would be getting here.

All the bolting info you should need: safeclimbing.org/

If you have to ask, you probably should not be bolting anything. Stick to the gym.

Hilti is a German company, I would think you'd get a good set up from them. As far as hangers goes, just google around.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
