| 1) I understand no camping is permitted here 2) Let's say a rope gets stuck on rappel. I spend ___ hours futzing around with it and now I'm heading back to the car around late-o-clock... 3) Are there any fees/ tickets/ phone numbers to call/ etc. related to this specific area? Or IS OVERNIGHT PARKING ALLOWED HERE? Cheers, -Dylan | FLAG |

| 1. Okay. 2. Okay. 3. BV Canyon is located outside of the scenic loop and thus there are no "hours" per say, however, I do not believe overnight parking is permitted. You can get an early start or finish late...people get benighted on Epinephrine frequently. Just shell out the extra cash and stay at the campground or drive up the hill to Lovell Canyon if you are trying to find a wink wink nod nod way to bivy by posting here. | FLAG |

| Overnight parking, probably a gray area. Camping, definitely no. Fine is substantial from what I hear- I would imagine it would be similar to the $150 fine they give for late exits on the loop. The basic gig is that the LEs (Law Enforcement Rangers) patrol Black Velvet at their leisure. Sometimes they show up, sometimes they dont. If your car is there and you're not, they may assume you're dealing with a stuck rope, they may leave you a warning. If you're in your car sleeping because you got back at 'late o'clock', you get kicked out AND a ticket. That said, it is well known that the BLM monitors this forum. So, take that how you will. | FLAG |

| Just to reiterate my first comment: 1) I understand no camping is permitted here I have already made a reservation for the group site for the duration of our stay, I just don't want to get screwed for getting a rope stuck/ slow partner/ unplanned inconvenience/ mountain lion attack/ airport security/ etc. Sounds like leaving a note under the wiper or a call to the "I screwed up" hotline is a good idea for longer commitments here. Thanks for the update. Again, the real question: Is there a formal time at which the parking area for Black Velvet Canyon is closed? | FLAG |

| I've had to exit late many times at BV and never gotten a ticket. I think it's a safe roll of the dice. | FLAG |
