| Anyone actually used both the DMM Ripstop shock absorbing sling and Yates Screamers? How good are the DMM Ripstops for aid? http://www.dmmclimbing.com/productsDetails.asp?id=14&id2=151
for aid, I am refering to C1-C2 aid, maybe a few pins here and there, micronuts, sketchy bolt ladders, etc. Also general trad usage. (in other words, I don't need scream-aids) also, the link mentions that they are working on some more specialized shock absorbing slings - maybe an ice and an aid model? | |

| I am sold on Screamers. One saved my life ice/mixed climbing. I fell about 100 feet and the screamer caught me, on a 10cm screw in a blob of ice. The screamer fully activated. DMM makes good stuff but screamers and zipper screamers are the way to go. | |

| I just heard back from DMM, and the Ripstop activates at 2.5 kn. 100 feet?! Yikes! I have one screamer, that I use for my rope solo anchors, but could enjoy a few more. Haven't fallen on one though, but I am too scared to fall often. | |

| I love DMM in general, but the consistency of yates equals much happiness. I have used both, but never opened the DMM. That being said, the Ripstops feel more like a normal draw, while screamers are all bulk-tastic. Easier to dog on the screamers, and better for aid, but ripstops nestle all nice in with my norm trad gear. If I have to free climb above a load limiter, then mostly I'm hoping not to fall. | |
