| Yes you can rap with the solo aid and it's easier said than explained
basically with the device threaded with the rope you pull a bit of slack out of the back and clip a biner through the loop which then rests between the body of the solo aid and the bight of rope preventing the cam from locking up completely I have never had any problems doing penjis, tensions ect although it's quite the pain to traverse with but it can be done .The only problem w/penjis is getting the right amount of slack set up before you start be sure you have some kind of ascender on board before you rap for the penji.
And to answer your question NO you do not have to reorient the solo aid it stays on your harness secured w/ cord I use double strands of tecnora/spectra cord.
Im not trying to tell you this is the device to end all for solo aid but in my experience with the solo aid it has been a very very solid device and while I still use a gri gri/cinch/tube for some things that it will not do like belay ect the more I use the solo aid the more I like it.
Let me state once again that if you plan to free climb a fair amount you will not like this device as you deff need one hand to feed the rope....
The manual used to be available on Wrens website as a down loadable PDF might check it out ....
If you live near the Colorado springs I would be happy to show you how to rig your solo aid and how it works in various situations | FLAG |
