Big Rocks Wilderness (aka Mecca)

A forgotten and obscure bouldering location. For those interested in development and exploration, this will be a great area. This description will be lengthy as to inform interested parties with all details possible to make your trip more effective. It feels as if there are some brilliant gems to be found here. Described on the internet as "the next hueco, the area did not live up to the hype". I would agree.... however I don't believe this area should be dismissed. The area that i found on the internet in this area is called "mecca". We explored this first. Somewhere on this posting I will attach images of an early guidebook to this area. Temperatures in early June were at 100 degrees. Seems like a late fall/winter/early spring area. Most of the rock felt high quality, especially down lower ("Mecca coordinates" - The sloped hillside containing a nice spaced cluster of boulders.... 37°39'17.29"N, 114°58'35.86"W). As we got to ( 37°39'22.72"N, 114°58'32.89"W) quality and "natural lines" disappeared a bit. Not many obvious lines were found. This seems to be the main heartbreak of the entire big rocks wilderness area. We then moved to ( 37°41'7.49"N, 114°59'10.89"W).... approximately.... or one of it's neighboring mounds.) I found a couple of boulders with "AMAZING STONE". There are problems and they look killer. In the Big Rocks Wilderness area, problems seemed to be quite easy or quite hard and crimpy. Lots of crimp face problems all around. But compression stuff with slopers hits once in a while from what we saw. Some stone does look much like Hueco, and climbs like such. More of the stone is reminiscent of the Bishop Tablelands. We also hit ( 37°40'17.20"N, 114°59'5.51"W), last stop after our trip. Sick looking scoop (the right side arete, tall). Lots of great rock. Chalk on about 10 problems or so, many hard and crimpy. Big Rocks Wilderness Nevada is HUGE, and the amount of rock is overwhelming. There could be some very serious stuff. If you're into the tall game, potential could be exponential, who knows? It's a question of whether or not there are spectacular pockets of stone within the square miles of wilderness that exist here. I look forward to spending lots of time here this upcoming wintery season. If anyone is interested or has questions on the area, let me know.
