I have an old-ish Bibler (now black diamond) fitzroy 4-season tent. I haven't used it too much because it's overkill for most things I do these days

I always have difficulties setting it up, and the poles never align with the velcro straps, and also the "V" poles have an unnatural bow in them when it's set up, and the poles have even ripped one of the velcro straps off by accident...I followed the instruction manual and the poles are set up how they are supposed to be, BUT not in the exact arc I would expect.

Manual:

Does anyone have person experience with aligning the poles properly? it's stable as-is, but I would like it to be proper so I don't damage the tent further.

See pictures and hopefully it will make sense:

In my experience this typical of newer Bibler tents. I fight with the poles on my I tent a bit. I just bought an Ahwahnee to replace it and the short pole is an absolute bitch. So much so I am going to cut the pole down by about a 1/4" so that it will work. As such, I believe the poles are just too long.

Of course, when making a tent there is going to be some variability with each piece of material and with tolerance stack up so this issue is not surprising, but is sure makes it a PITA.

Other than using the inside velcro attachment points I find guy lining the tent as tight as possible is crucial to opening up the tent, and achieving a good fit for the poles.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
