Gogol Bordello

Description 

Bethlehem is a unique black limestone area. The lack of texture on some of the faces makes for tricky face climbing.
This is a good shady crag in the morning and gets sun on the face climbs around 2 in the afternoon.
The "Divinations" cave is climbable all day and during rain.

Getting There 

1-90 North from Rapid City just past Piedmont is Bethlehem exit.
Go Right on Bethlehem RD and stay on Bethlhem Frontage rd North until you reach the dirt road called "Bethlehem RD".
Take this road 3.95 miles to a small pull-out on the left. Park here and hike in.

Once parked walk SW into a mini waterfall area and follow a faint trail South along the creek for about 10 minutes. Cross the creek on Logs or hop across on rocks. Keep following the trail as it brings you through some snake-weed and from here you should see a couple of Boulders leading you East up the hill to the base of Gogol Bordello.
The hike in should only take about 15 min.

Great route and the warm-up for this area.An easier start is found by starting on the "Pliny the Elder" ledge and getting the jug to clip the 3rd bolt (kind of scary). This makes it 5.10Just do the direct 5.11 version and you'll be glad you did....[more]   Browse More Classics in SD
