Im curious as to what tape is best for marking indoor climbing wall routes that will have the least likelihood of peeling off. THoughts?

I've only used Metolius tape. Its very sticky but if your fingers are sweating it will work the tape loose sooner or later. It is not breathable tape at all so its pretty much inevitable your fingers will start sweating in a warm gym. For me I had best results when I prepped my skin with some alcohol wipes before applying the tape.

Johnson & Johnson makes some breathable athletic tape but I never used it. Breathability might keep your hands dry and let the tape stick longer.

Athletic tape for your hands or route marking tape for the walls?

Double the tape back on itself so its reusable. the only stuff you would be taping directly to the wall would be the start and finish so its a huge reduction in the amount of tape you're using.

As for tape? 2" duct tape work fine. If its a small, home wall, you can use 1" duct tape

Gaff tape (cut thin, it's sometimes called "spike tape") works better than duct tape. No matter what, you've got to rub it in, and maintain it after the fact. Tape is a strong argument for colorized holds.

Gaffers tape is usually best.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
