Best Rope?

Hello,
I am looking at buying a rope for sport/top rope climbing and I was wondering what to look for? I notice different diameters, and different brands. Are there any brands to get or specific things to look for?

Luke, you should spend a little more time with some experienced climbers before you buy a rope. The questions you are asking would be answered by your experienced partners.

Frank is probably right.

This page has a lot of good buying advice. Just keep in mind that you're likely to abuse your first rope. Lowering climbers, as you often do top-roping and sport climbing, is a good way to fuzz it up fast. I'm not saying don't lower climbers, I'm just saying don't spend a shit ton of money on a fancy skinny rope that will get destroyed.

But like Frank said, you likely need a mentor more than a rope at this point.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
