Which are the best? I can climb up to 5.10s
is it easy to find partners at any sites, if I just show up?

thanks

Hey Richard!

I have some beta on Colombia for you.

Suesca - incredible area one hour from Bogota with the largest concentration of climbs (over 500). A bit of everything. Trad, sport etc with routes up to 600'.

This is a super easy place to find partners. I've spent about 60 days climbing here and never had a problem.

Only thing is that there aren't a plethora of routes under 5.10 and the grading here is stout. Also a small trad rack would be extremely helpful.

La Mojarra - Incredible setting above the Grand Canyon of Colombia. Interesting Sandstone climbing and an incredible hostel. Possibly a bit harder to find partners. I had no issues. Definitely worth checking out. Near Bucamaranga.

La Calera - Boulding just above Bogota. You can take a bus and probably find some local boulderers to give you a spot.

Other Areas that you'll want a set partner for:

El Cocuy - Sierra Nevada - incredible alpine climbing

La Macheta - think Rifle of Colombia - nothing under 5.11 really

Walking distance from Suesca - El Valle de Los Halcone and El Valle de Los Gnomos. Highball bouldering and a few trad lines. All routes have been chopped unfortunately.

There is suppose to be an incredible area near Fusagasuga.

and then there is Florian. Incredible tufa caves but probably nothing easy

Hey I am in Colombia right now. A little out of shape but I could pull some 10s and I'm toting a 60m rope and some draws. Let me know if you want to meet up. I'm heading towards Suesca tomorrow, garlandjf@gmail.com

Check out monodedo.com it will be helpful for Ecuador. There is plenty of climbing in they grade, big plus if you speak Spanish

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
