Description Suggest change

The main attraction, from a climber's perspective, of the Berchtesgadener Land is the Watzmann with its 1800m tall East face. Clearly, there are some monstrous alpine routes to be done here, but also sport climbing can be found here. However, the magnitude of destinations isn't as great as the alpine ones, especially since the regulations of the national park don't allow climbing on all walls. Additionally, some previously developed crags are now closed to climbing due to landowner disputes.

Getting There Suggest change

Berchtesgadener Land is located in the furthest southeastern corner of Germany and is surrounded on nearly all sides by Austria. Salzburg is the nearest large city, but Münich is likely a better point of arrival if you're flying in.
