Description

The herd path diverging from the East Path comes directly to this slab. It is about 110' tall at its highest. The path comes up below a left-facing corner that doesn't quite reach the ground, this is Belle Bottom Crack.

Getting There

Take the East (a.k.a. BAW) Path past all the Measles Walls. As the path reaches a viewpoint above the MWs, take a herd path that diverges left, walking another five minutes to reach this slab.

Tom tiptoes out of the crux.

Belleview 5.9 5c 17 VI 17 HVS 5a PG13  NY : Adirondacks : ... : Belleview Slab
The crux is getting up the first ten feet, the first bolt is well past this. You may want to stick-clip it from the right. After clipping that bolt, the climbing settles down, a lot up to a horizontal crack, then gets interesting, though not very hard, the rest of the way. Bolts and another crack or two provide gear. Were the rest of the route as hard as its start, this would be a premium friction testpiece....[more]   Browse More Classics in NY
