Going to Belize in December for some beach time. MP lists some nice looking single pitch limestone climbs shown. I'd kinda like to spend a day climbing there, but the MP page says there will not be a guidebook available until early 2014, a few months after I am there. Anybody have some knowledge about these routes?

Hey Paul! Im sitting at the Black Rock Lodge in the Cayo DIstrict of Belize right now! We have been here for a little over a week and it has been a hard battle trying to find climbing. We were given the name of Todd Swain and that he is establishing most of the routes here and is training the guides for the tourism board. He works for Joshua Tree in the city of San Ignasio. We are going into the city today to try and find him! I will repost any info I find.

We definitely found climbing! We ended up climbing at a place called 5 Blues Lake off Hummingbird Hwy. We didnt want to go with any "Tours" to go climb. we brought all of our own gear with us, so the quest was to find climbing without going to a tourist company to take us on a tour to climb, this also saved us a TON of money. In the village of Saint Margaret's there is a man named Mario Perez, he knows all about the climbing that went up in 5 Blues Lake since he was the one that led Todd Swain back to bolt the climbs there. If you want some more info you can PM me or Email me at EHayes35@gmail.com

Here is the Youtube video of one of the climbs we did there.
