I have an older 24 Volt Bosch Annihilator that has a shot battery. Replacements are about $60 but I thought I would see if anyone has had any luck with rebuild services?

$60 sounds pretty reasonable to me, considering what some used to be priced at in the past.

With an old drill like that you would be better off buying some small 12v motorcycle batteries or maybe even some Harbor Freight 12v tool batteries and some wire, link them together to get to 24v and make remote battery packs that you wear.

I priced a rebuild on my 36v fat-pack batteries and its about the exact same price as buying new.

My friend had an anihalator battery rebuilt in salt lake for about $75. It held more charge but it wasn't like turbo charging the drill and it still drilled kind of slow and gets less than a pitch worth of holes in hard stone. I think batteries plus or the Bosch service center here in SLC did the work. Is the $60 replacement just a used battery or is new and/or refurbished?

Keep an eye out for the 18v Milwuakee 2615 3/4" max bit or 2715 (1" max bit). Even the 12v milwuakee is comparable to the Bosch bulldog or anihalator in drilling performance in limestone or sandstone and is tiny. I got the 2615 drill with two batteries slim pack for $130 on EBay. 18v milwuakee batteries (in 4 different sizes and weights) are available used or new all over the place and you can actually use them in your other tools if you go milwuakee.

Good luck. It is such a bummer to haul a heavy ass drill then watch it drain mid hole. A sharp bit is a must for good battery life in hard stone. In quartzite sometimes a bit only lasts for 3 holes.

I had my Hilti TE-6A battery (NiCd) rebuilt a few years ago. Complete waste of money. I got maybe one more hole per charge after the re-build, and that only lasted for a few charges before it was back to it's pre-rebuild performance. I would invest your re-build money in a lithium ion drill.

I agree, don't bother with a NiCad rebuild. have you priced at at CPO Bosch ? I have had some battery returns with other tolls..like makita and the CS is really good,,they just give
me a new battery,,maybe Bosch as well????

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.

Fixed Hardware: Bolts & Anchors
