I'm sad to announce that Art Morimitsu, an Administrator here on MP for SoCal and long-time climber, died yesterday from cancer. Art was an avid sport and trad climber, and will be missed by his many friends in the local SoCal climbing community.

wow really. i remember looking at this guys pictures a while ago. he looks really young for cancer to have taken him, do yo know how old he was or what type of cancer?

He was 50ish, but he never looked his age.

You were a great friend. Your willingness to share and help others in a variety of ways did not go unnoticed. When I was headed for Thailand your contributions to this site helped me tremendously. An email to you was returned quickly with even more info.

I'm not sure why a man with so little body fat would stay in the cold pacific for so long, I guess the waves were just too much fun to care.

Thanks for having my back that time at the bar in Huntington. LA PD my ass, those guys were just jealous dicks. Jealous that we were having so much fun and that brought the girls in!

It was good while you were here my friend. I'm sure I will see you on the other side...simply because, if it exsists, we'll be in the same place.

Condolences to Art's loved ones, and friends. Sounds like he was a great guy, and a strong climber, and well respected by many. I'm sure he fought well, and hard till the end. RIP fellow climber.

Oh, no. I met him at an AZ get together and thought he was a stand up guy. So sad.
