| Ok, The BeanFest is officially at the Isle of You Campground. If for whatever reason nobody received that information. Follow signs off the Middle March Pass Road about 9-10 miles east of the AZ state Hwy 80. Making left into the West Stronghold road. | |

| Does anyone want to contribute any information from past Bean Fest of any games or activities that may benefit the event? I am thinking tug of war standing on crates, the hangman, human foozeball. Jason, | |

| Jason, my friend mentioned this last night as a good game for the bean fest.
You get a top rope up high in a tree somehow. The "climber" gets put on belay by their partner. The climber gets up 15 feet or so, off to the side so that when they let go they will swing. Standing on a car or branch or something. They let go and swing out. The belayers job is to lower the climber so that they land and balance on something small, like a milk crate. The belayer cannot wait until the climber's swings become smaller. They have to land the belayer on the third swing back, or something like that. You could do a few rounds of this, making the landing point smaller with every passing round. Or the belayer could try to drop the climber into a chair or something like that.
I'd recommend doing this with some friends before the beanfest to see how it would work out.

Wow Sounds like fun especially with alcohol. Has this ever been a game done at a past bean fest? Did you recover your shoes?
By Eric D Jan 11, 2008
| Yea, I got my shoes. I don't think this has been done in the past. My buddy just thought of it. | |

| Bean Fest Host Jason & other festers,
I don't have any experience with the bean fest so I don't know if ya'll have done this before but....
Have you considered putting together a raffle or auction? Items can come from from a variety of sources from grocery stores, retail climbing outlets, restaurants, web-stores, etc.
If that's too complicated consider asking people to donate old stuff. Old belay plates, aiders, harness, stuff that's too small, doesn't fit right or they just don't use. People could bid using a silent auction for the items they want. The monies could then be donated to a good cause.
In light of the recent rescue on Sheepshead maybe the Sheriff's Department , SARA or even spread the wealth and shoot some over to ASCA
Thoughts, comments?

| Game idea self-rescue inspired.
Using the same rigging as Eric D's game. You have a fixed cord on a branch or secure station in the sky or boulder/short wall.
Participants get a prusik and are timed to attach the prusik, ascend the cord and ring the bell. Might be interesting to see how quickly people could rig a prusik and actually do the moves.
For added value........blindfolded?

| The Prisik game sounds awesome I will put that one in the notes. Thanks for the suggestion Susan, and you are invited to come out. Also if there is anyone out there or can source a merchant that has next to flawless gear that we can use as prizes for games please PM me. This week I am going over the last touches of the shirt design I will have them posted up on the forum when I can get my grubby hands on them. Jason, | |

| One of the beanfests I have attended included a bouldering comp. It was however during the day and probably entailed a good bit of logistical planning. Some nice prizes were awarded during the evenings. Probably a small entrance fee, can't remember.
Another good game was one handed knot tying. Double or single elim.
Think of something that involves glowsticks. They're so cool.
Guiness on tap Jagermeister in the cooler one glass and one quarter.

| How about the "box-munching" game that was a last minute addition to the Fall 07 fest? It wasn't really a sanctioned event, more like a demonstration last time. | |
By Chris Craig From tucson, AZ Jan 27, 2008
| One beanfest I went to had human foosball. It was fun. Webbing tied between trees. Players clipped in with daisy chains so that there feet were just off the ground. Plastic fencing was placed around the perimeter to keep the ball in bounds.
good luck Chris | |

Care to elaborate flex? Chris got the Fooseball one on tap. It will definitely be used. Nimbus or Gentle Ben's beer from the Barrio will all be on tap in the kegs. Bring Jagermeister if you want. I will not be providing. Jason,

| Alright I am trying to figure out who can carry the two kegs of Gentle Ben's Beer for saturday the day of the event. I will be paying for these ahead of time so going to to pick them up is not going to be a problem. I am going to try to make it out on Friday the 11th to tie down the camp site. I also need to source a volunteer who has two large tubs that can accommodate ice and the two kegs. Please PM me with a phone number etc. | |

| I wanted to know if anyone who is coming to the Bean Fest would like to contribute their cooking skills, and set this food thing up as kind of a potluck style. I am really looking for primarily mexican food, and, or anything related to beans. Do you think this will work, I already have some volunteers, but the more the merrier is always good for the event. I am of course going to be providing the hard goods such like plates, silverware, cups etc, and I will be springing for the kegs of beer. Please PM me if you are interested? Jason, | |

| Okay, Got the games finalized. Practiced the Box Munching game at a party on Saturday night. Very funny indeed with alcohol. Thanks Eric and John for showing me that. Great party by the way John. The other games are the Belay swing game thanks again Eric. Milk Crate Tug of War, and the Free Hang comp. I may have the rope measurement contest also. Anyone else have ideas or anything else? I wanted to know if anyone who is coming please as a suggestion but not required to bring refried beans, tortillas, and things to add to the food. If you want to contribute please PM me. I can't wait it is going to be a great event. Thanks all for time input into suggestions. Jason, | |
