...you don't say!!

Just wondering... Can this route be done with a 50m rope if belayer doesn't lower the leader (pull up 2nd rope and rap)? Must have something to do with the ledge, at the base being lower than the recommended belay spot, right? Could this be pulled off with two 50m ropes? I'm guessing a top rope would be out of the question on this with a 50m...

Also, does this apply to Baby Jr. Get's Spanked as well? I'm taking my wife out tomorrow. She has a bunch of gym climbing but this will be her first outdoor climbing trip. I was hoping to set up a top rope on a nice 5.6 or so starter for her. I'm open for suggestions... :)

Thanks,
Daryl

Climbaz.com says something about 8 feet short with a 60m, so that implies the route is about 108 feet. With 2 50M ropes you should have a little less than 165 feet so you should be fine.

Don't forget the long tails on the EDK hehe, rapping on two ropes still scares the shit out of me

Christian, do some testing on the flat overhand if you don't trust it, (you can use your truck) I think your test will clear up any doubt you have/had with that knot.
Feel free to call me as well and I will give you the results of my own testing.

The Stronghold

Several of those routes can get a little short with a 60m rope. The belayer just needs to move uproute a little.

alternatively, consider having the climber eat 10,000 hamburgers. this will increase rope stretch enough to reach the ground. (remember to tie down the belayer)

Thanks guys. Just got back from out there and met a couple from Alaska that was on Rabbits Feat. They had to bail and left all their draws and rope up when they got over run by a swarm of wasps so we talked to them down in the campground. They were using a 70m rope and said it was good with some left over and a 60 may be pushing it... 50 was out of the question.
