For those that haven't seen it yet ~ the latest AzRepublic 'pro-mine-hype' article in attempt to exonerate Bruno & RCC in light of the recent Renzi investigation:

The Republic's timing is always predictable

VERY exciting news. Blessing ceremony was a HUGE success. Six tribes have united and hired a Scottsdale attorney to battle the case. Climbers finally have the additional ammunition that will necessary to continue this fight. Things are looking good...

There is a lot of NEW stuff going on...

A new Bill has been introduced - East Valley Tribune article

A new website has been launched. A Native American website has links to bring everyone up to speed on recent info.

The Access Fund has sent out an E-News Letter August '07 announcing recent events.

Send Jason an email - tell him you want to preserve Oak Flat, Queen Creek and Lower Devil's Cyn for future climbing generations (and yourself) Jason needs to hear your voice The Access Fund needs to continue to be strong in our stand for future access. This is protected land and has been for OVER 50 years..!

This Bill IS NOT a 'Win-Win' situation for climbers as stated in Senator Kyl's Presentation paragraph 4

Join the Access Fund ~ Cheers

I thought the AF signed off on all this?

FYI,

The Mayor of the town of Superior Arizona, Michael Hing, who was formerly a strong supporter of this land exchange bill, recently sent letters to the Arizona Congressional delegation and to Governor Napolitano asking that consideration of the land exchange bill be delayed.

Also, on August 24th, Governor Napolitano herself sent letters to the US Congressional and Senate delegations citing a number of problems she has with the current land exchange bills.

Beer Anyone?

Well, it's not national news but certainly local..........

From Paul Diefenderfer:

"Hello Friends of Queen Creek

While much is still the same there is some new stuff happening with regards to the land swap and Oak Flat/ Queen Creek. We will be having a meeting for anyone interested in this issue on Sunday, October 14 - 7pm at the Phoenix Rock Gym. Mark your calendars and plan to attend. Prior to this we will have petitions to sign at all the local gyms and climbing stores. We will keep you posted.

Thanks

Dief - FoQC"

Please take a moment from your day to add your voice and signature and preserve what is to be lost. Rock does not regenerate and the option to move everything over to a somewhat adjacent undeveloped alternative is NOT a victory for any climber. This is analagous to draining and putting in a road to Hetch Hetchy but demolishing El Cap to mine iron. Not what any of us want to see. Make some calls, get people involved. Sign the petition, remembering that it could be your local boulders getting dusted next.

It is easy to email Jason at the Access Fund by clicking on the link above. I urge anyone capable of typing to do so.

WoW..! - Regarding Pastors sponsorship of the Land Swap Bill...

First he says, "No-Way", then he says, "I'll look at it"...then -- "BLAMO" -- He Sponsors the bill.

Gee -- I wonder what caused that change of heart..???

Daddy's Little Girl accepts RCC donations $$$

The 4 pages of the 32 comments that followed are also quite profound.

pssst...this will be news VERY soon...!

The AMC Board of Directors has voted unanamously to oppose the Land Swap of Oak Flat

Switching from their neutral position, the club has agreed that it is in the best interest of their member climbers and the surrounding communities that these public lands not be traded

Their website has details and links to the full AMC Position & Action pages

Up-to-date addresses, e-mail links and a formal-form letter are available to use, making it easy to send your personal thoughts along about the issue.

Interesting, on my travel day today I saw an article in the Spokane newspaper about Renzi being indicted by the feds in connection to a "federal land-exchange deal".

If a congressman is going down, the whole "deal" really needs much more scrutiny.

My Hero

The land trade to acquire Tamo has nothing to do with Renzi's situation. Check your PM's.

thanks Fred, how it relates seems to be mentioned -Page1

Renzi's dishonest actions same as RCC - attempting to buy the silence of the climbers by offering a bogus "license" for Atlantis & the Pond

Your right CJD, Tamo was an entirely different & dishonest piece of the legislation
