For the last few weeks me and some buddies have been looking for bear slabs outlined in the squeezing the lemmon book. Book is pretty strait forward on location, but after searching for hours, and a lot of intense off trail hiking, no dice--no slabs to be found. Beginning to think this place is a myth, but if knows the approach some beta would be much appreciated.

A steep climb too.

The Bear Slabs are the group of rocks almost directly across the canyon (other side of road and stream) from the Green Slabs. At about the same elevation and not very far from the road. The old summit hut guide says "low angle, dirty & generally unaesthetic". That's been enough to keep me away all these years. I think you are better off having NOT found them.

Chances are, you were probably hiking all around them but figured it couldn't be them. They're not really what most people would consider slabs. If you have Google Earth type in these coordinates: 32 21' 49.00" N, 110 43' 00.12" W and you'll fly right to 'em, (or atleast what I've always assumed were them.) The long obvious buttress is easy and probably the best thing there. A long time ago we climbed a curvey crack on the right side of one of the "slabs" that was about 5.8-5.9. Not really worth it unless you happen to be out there already ... at the base of the crack ... with all your gear on, but maybe not even then.
