| Any word on the dates for the fall Beanfest? | FLAG |

| I climbed with Steve, aka Beanmaster, two weekends ago, and he was thinking the first weekend in October or the first weekend in November. I think he had one more thing to figure out before he could set a date. | FLAG |

| Just curious - how is the Beanmaster chosen? | FLAG |

| Just don't do it over Halloween again. That was when it was last year and several of us with kids won't make it. 2 years in a row would suck. | FLAG |

| Actually, he has got it scheduled for Halloween weekend. I can't make it that weekend, either. | FLAG |

| Ditto here... we have a 4 year old to take trick or treating and were meeting friends for Halloween. Bummer! | FLAG |

| - **Steve's considering alternate dates. If you have a preference, please PM him ASAP and make your wishes known.***
November 7-8 is the Cochise Refuse Roundup, so we can't do it that weekend. My October/November schedule is packed, but I'm totally clear 10/17-18. | FLAG |

| Or we can move the cleanup effort if he wants that weekend. | FLAG |

The next weekend I have free for the cleanup is December 12-13. | FLAG |

| UPDATE
Beanfest will be November 7-8 at the Sheepshead parking/camping area.
It's Beanfest time!
If you've never been to Beanfest, you need to go. It is a semi-annual gathering of climbers at the Cochise Stronghold in Southern Arizona which features climbing, partying, games, and the infamous "beanings."
Beanfest camping and meals will be at the Sheepshead parking area, in the West Stronghold. Climbing will be wherever you and your friends want to head. The big group potluck dinner will be Saturday evening, after 4:30, at the group campfire. After dinner, there will be fun, games, and prizes.
Steven Johnson is the Beanmaster for this one. He'll be coordinating the t-shirts, beer, etc. Please post what you can bring for the potluck. The theme is Mexican food, so salsa, tortillas, beans, taco meat, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes, etc. would be most welcome. Also, ice, firewood, paper plates, napkins, plastic utensils would be appreciated.
Hope to see you all out there! | FLAG |

| There are some new routes going up on a wall about a 10 minute hike or so from the campground. The rock needs some cleaning so plan on bringing helmets to be safe at the base. | FLAG |

| When will we hear directly from Mr. Beanmaster himself? | FLAG |
By Mike From Phoenix Sep 3, 2009
| I am hoping to make it. That is my busy season so I can't commit right now, but I will try to be there.
It has been 2 1/2 years since I've been to the BF which is too long. Maybe I can drag Manny along too. | FLAG |

| It's been years since I've been to one. I think I will attend for the festivities. Would anyone be interested in carpooling down there from Phoenix area? | FLAG |

| 1) When did it become a potluck? (yea, it's been too long--haven't been since Grandma's)
2) Are cooking arrangements coordinated? I.e., if I bring some tamales, will there be heat to warm them or am I responsible for that myself?
Thanks. | FLAG |

| In my experience, the beanmaster recruits helpers to bring/cook beans, supply tortillas, chips, beer, coordinates t-shirts, games and prizes.

Don't think it's ever been a pot luck. | FLAG |

Potluck: Also called potluck supper, potluck dinner, potluck lunch. a meal, esp. for a large group, to which participants bring various foods to be shared.
Uh... That sounds about right. At the Spring Beanfest this year, folks also brought Mexican dishes beyond the basic beans and tortillas. It was quite the feast. :) | FLAG |
