Yet another season is upon us for the Pond. The bolts on this route are button head bolts which are not really ideal for the type of rock at Queen Creek. I would be willing to replace these bolts with 3 1/2" 3/8 bolts at my own expense. Before I do this though I would like to get community consensus.

I only see this as positive. Thanks, Chris for the proactive attitude.

Do it.

If you need chain for the top, let me know.

I've seen more really good climbers bail off of that thing than many routes of harder grades.

Seems like the terrain after the last current bolt forces people to head over to finish on Soft Parade. I'm not sure but it almost seems like some holds are now gone that were once up there?

Who put the route up originally? The FA's should ideally be asked if you can contact them. I'm sure they wouldn't have a problem with replacement of aging hardware - whoever they are.

One for one replacement maintenance should not require a call to the FA party.

Agreed. Chris isn't trying to add, but replace. Adding or chopping you should talk to the FA person(s).

I loved the Needles of the <br />Southern Sierra. The route is Don Juan Wall 11b, this shot was taken by a hard woman just before my manly fall.

Chris, you're the man. Thanks for helping to keep it safe.

More folks should follow your example and replace some of the aging scary bolts left behind by myself and others.
