Are Organic Crash Pads really worth the extra Loot ???
I can't call myself a boulderer, but I have been revisiting some of the same boulder problems I did when I was 10 years younger. Some are highballs, and even bailing from one of them is a good drop to the ground. The last few times I've been on a particular highball, when I'm at the high point and commitment hour, I keep thinking it would be nice to have a pad at the landing. |
Yes, they are. Screw the overseas made junk - buy organic. |
yes. and they really aren't that much more expensive. |
Yes. They are not any more expensive, and are of great quality. |
What's an organic brand? |
Organic is the brand. |
But are they Gluten free? |
My Metolius pads work just fine. I can't tell much of a difference but everyone who has an organic pad really likes them. So if the price difference isn't that much it's probably worth it. |

I get a laugh everytime I hear organic. So what you are telling me is this tomato is not organic just because they use some kinda chemical on it to make sure it doesn't get eaten by bugs, disease, and grows better. |
The big organic pads are excellent for highballs! Nice huge landing and pretty thick for absorbing a fall. I've spotted a few highball falls and I totally trust the pads. |

Original definition of organic: of, relating to, or derived from living matter. and of, relating to, or denoting compounds containing carbon (other than simple binary compounds and salts) and chiefly or ultimately of biological origin This new made up definition of organic: (of food or farming methods) produced or involving production without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or other artificial agents. Anything made not following the second definition is still matches the first definition making the 2nd one pointless and stupid. They really need to make up a new word for it.Totally! Not only that! Organic is improperly applied to economics and computers and law and... you get the idea. What idiots!!! Using english words in ways they weren't originally intended. It's pointless! AND it's stupid! |

What extra loot?! |
They are worth it. I burned through two madrock pads (don't hate they turn into couches) each within 2ish years. The organic pad I now have is much higher more durable quality that is built to last. |

Ok, I'm sold. So I'm assuming the 5 inch thick Big Pad is Organics' largest pad? Is there anything else accessory wise I should get while I'm purchasing the pad? |
The only thing I would say is I wished I'd have gone for the 4" big pad, not 5". Obviously the 5" is amazing to land on, but the extra weight is noticeable, and I do quite a few long uphill approaches. But if that's no big deal, then go for the 5". Its a beast! |

Metolius foam is bunk |

I very much appreciate the comments and opinions. If you are just getting the 1 pad, I'd say you don't need extra accessories especially if cost is something you're trying to keep low. Otherwise the extra stuff is pretty nifty to have once you start getting 2 or more pads. Load strap is pretty awesome because it makes strapping all your pads together with ease. You can strap them together without it, but it just takes some time. The smaller pads are also cool like the slider pad to cover the small gaps between pads and to wipe your shoes off of. But if you are getting the big pad, it has a huge landing zone so the slider pads are just an nice extra and you can easily get a $1 rug at a dollar store or Diaso to wipe shoes. |

Can we see some pics of your Organic pads guys? Cheers |

On my way home from work a couple nights ago I was linking a high ball problem together I have been working. As luck had it, a nice brother let me use his pads for a landing zone. Well I bailed at the high point, and hit the Organic pad. Maybe a 15 to 18 feet fall completely absorbed by the pad. I'm very impressed by the performance! |

Organic here meaning "that which has developed alongside of, in response to the development of, and is deemed inseparable from something else". Thus, my kidney is organic to my body. |
