Anyone at OR got info on new climbing / mountaineering gear? Post links / pics / info if so for us that cannot get in. Or PM me with a ticket and I will stop asking you to keep me up to date. Thanks.

I wasn't there but I was told that it was all about upright paddle boards. The new industry presence was compared to snowboarding in 1994.

Hiking some 5.fun in Squish.

SUP is definitely dominating the north half of the Salt Palace.

in terms of climbing, the magnetron is the showpiece for climbing (but at $20-30 retail...ooh, boy)- i dig metolius' take on the speed buckle (it actually locks compared to others that dont).

i also liked Camp's Photon color pack (8 diff colors) and Evolv has some sweet new shoes (the Astroman looks amazing, as does the new Pontas and the lace-up Elektra).

what else? Sterling's new Ion2 color is orange-tastic. Cilogear is dropping gorgeous new woven/non-woven dyneema packs. Edelrid has some cool new rappel cord (think tech cord...kinda).

oh, and Fixe does indeed have Aliens now- although they arent accepting orders until Sept- look for them in a dozen or so retailers nationwide late this fall.

i think thats about it. its actually pretty quiet for a summer show...

There's a new and improved Batura by La Sportiva.
A new and interesting mountain boot by Salewa that has a flexible tang that can be adjusted for either a stiff or soft flex in the sole.
New crampons by Petzl and Black Diamond.
Improvements to the technical ice tools of Camp.
The carbon fiber FORCE technical axe by Grivel, plus other tool refinements.
A new 3 lb, two person tent by Brooks Range.
Aliens (for those who still care).
Magnetic technology from BD
plus much, much more...................

The best thing I saw this year was Ueli Steck. It seemed like a pretty quiet year for new products, but I've never got too excited for summer clothes and tent, etc.

Well ended up getting into the show with a dealer friend of mine. Saw the new reverso 4 from petzl. 25% lighter I think is what they said. Looks like I will have a new belated device come January. Also picked up a cilogear worksack wish it was a dynema but regular was a bit more in my price range. Those were my favorite products. Also played with the magnet locker from bd. I am not a fan. I will just leave it at that.

Glad to hear you picked up one of the sacks- I think we sold most of them before the show finished up. Enjoy it!

Climbing in Smuggler's Notch

Petzl's smaller version of the mini Traxion looks great. It'll be a must have. Programmable headlamps: nifty.

Rock Exotica has an "ORCA" locking carabiner that's pretty cool. Stays unlocked until you use it once, then, bam, locks. Neat.

Some of the new trail and approach shoes from La Sportiva look good.

Stand up paddle boards are all the trendy rage...they'll be collecting dust with rollerblades soon enough...ha ha.

Grande Grotto

New Lighter Helmet from BD replaces the Tracer.

Mammut looks like they have a sweet looking helmet coming out.

New BD OZ Hoodwire Biner - 28g and the notch-less design

New BD ICON headlamp - 200 lumens and RED LED incl. Looks good

Hoping for word from DMM on when some of their new Biners will be out (in colors please!)

Indian Ridge - Yosemite

The new BD helmet looked really nice... like it will have great ventilation

I had the same feeling about the ORCA as I did the Magnetron... not quite sure what was going to happen as I fumble-fingered them. I suppose one could get used to them.

Looks like all the big shoe companies will offer high-tops by Spring... Evolve... 5.10 Anazazi... Mad Rock (or am I dreaming about Evolve?)

Ropeman 3 has a nice one-handed action.

MadRock pad made out of scraps has a real nice feel when you land on it... a little more lateral give than current pads.

New Neo-Air looks and feels even more likely to spring a leak than current version (not a dig... I have one :-)

Camelback has a Steri-pen like water purifier with the bulb tucked up under the gigantic lid out of harms way... in a circle instead of a protruding bulb. Very nice.
