I've been going to Rock n Resole for about 8 years, with mixed success. I have always sent tons of buddies there, again with mixed results. 2 months ago yesterday I had a pair of shoes resoled by them and they have fallen apart already. Yes I climb 3-4 days a week, but I have never rocked through a resole so quickly. When I asked Rock n Resole to help me out, they wouldn't even cut me a deal on fixing my destroyed shoe. Anyone know a better resoler to choose from?

Try out Pro Deal resoles in Pueblo.

Rock N Resole is good stuff.
Its tough for a small resole company to help out every climber that needs "help" when they wear out shoes. That is pretty much 95% of the climbing community.

two months with 3-4 days a week is a good amount of climbing.
Was it 3.5 mm that they used? That could make a difference. If you want somthing to last longer then go with the 5mm.
Its the burl.

If you're in the Boulder area check out Perry's shoe shop on Walnut. They do all kinds of shoe repair. I've had several pairs of shoes resoled there, always with good results.

Perry's. Now there's a good idea. I've never had a particular problem with Rock'n'Resole nor have I ever taken my climbing shoes to Perry's, but Perry's has always done a great job for me with other shoe issues.

Try the Rubber Room in Bishop CA. I've used them five or six times with excellent results.

Go to Neptune's and have them send your shoes up to Komito
in Estes Park, or just go climb at Lumpy and drop them off yourself.
He's been in business probably close to as long as I've been alive--he does great work.

If you're not into Steve, try Positive Resoles in
Joshua Tree. Google it.

I used rock n resole twice because i live in gunnison. i resoled my la sportiva katana. i used them a little in the gym on hard problems but they fell apart both times after climbing on them just a little outside on granite. i just got muiras and i am already planning on not using rock n resole because i will loose performance.

i'm glad someone said something about the bad results, because i thought it was just my imagination.

This may be slightly off topic. But since the previous post mentioned Katanas, it reminded me of the problems that I've had with Sportiva shoes in general. I have had 4 different pairs of Sportivas; Katanas, Mythos, Megas, and Cliffs. Each of these shoes had problem with the "original" soles delaminating as well as the rubber delaminating from the uppers. I've been told that it is because Sportiva doesn't clean their materials well enough before assembling the shoes. You can use Barge cement to re-glue them, but it only lasts so long because it is hard to clean them well enough to get a great bond after they've been in use.

I wrote messages to Sportiva customer service (with pictures) and they never responded. I was diplomatic, even mentioning that they performed well--just didn't seem to hold up. I've never had this problem with Five-Tens or Mad Rocks. Since Sportiva doesn't stand behind their products, I have moved on to other brands. Has anyone else had problems with Sportivas falling apart?

Back on topic--I have used Rock n Resole for all my resoles and have been pretty satisfied with their work. In fact, they have done a good job at re-gluing the Sportivas when I've sent them in for resoles. They never charged me for that either. However, I have not tried other resole shops, so can't compare their work to R&R.

Rock n resole does excellent work.
I've used them for a long time and had nothing but good results and positive experiences with them.

You Climb in your shoes 3-4 days a week and are pissed that they were worked in 2 months?
Sounds like sour grapes to me.

Rock n resole will have my business for a long time to come.

I've twice had problems at R&R- over 12 years with multiple soles per year...
Once it was a bad batch of glue and they had a lot of problems at that time and fixed stuff again on that note.

The other time was when the glue surface was apparently incomplete, and so there was a pretty bad delam right away- and they fixed that for free.

So I guess I view it as a manual labor thing. Sometimes you goof. Some goof more than others. I think R&R does better than the average, but it sounds like maybe you got unlucky.

As for the sportiva question- they had some issues with certain models, like the 2nd generation Enduros, which were pretty ironically named. They were not very honest with me about replacing a total delam pair of those and denied that there was a problem with them, even though just months before that I'd been in their warehouse and seen the huge bins of them that I was told had been returned due to a delam problem with the whole lot of them...
When I protested to this effect, it was ignored.

Anyway, Save for that and a certain intermediate generation of the Exum Ridge, and possibly the focus... their shoes have generally been above average for durability, but that's kaukulators, mythos, synchro, etc.. and I've never tried their more 'modern' (radical) shoes. Red Chilli has worked out pretty well for me, though maybe not so much for my fit, and the 5.10 anazazi seems to have done well too.

I'll have to contradict that. My experiences have all been sub-par, tho the point where I will never take a pair of rock shoes there again.

And, FWIW... I don't think Komito does the work himself, anymore.

The shoes I have had resoled at R&R have been much better craftsmanship.

Try ramutasresoles.com

I've had them resole my Anasazis twice and plan on sending my Barracudas when they start to wear through.

Excellent and timely work. Gotta ship to Montana though. But it's worth it (I shipped them from New York, twice!)

Rock n Resole did my mythos last time with a rand repair. So far, so good(2 months of climbing 3x/week).

Rubber Room has done me well 12+ times, but I moved out of california.

As far as La Sport durability, the first pair of Mythos I got delamed the uppers in a month. I took them back to REI, got a pair of orange ones and they're on their 4th or 5th resole and just now needing rand work.

I have also had mixed sucess with Rock and Resole- but I think some shoes are just "done" after the first or second resole, especially the more high performance shoes.
Another thing to bear in mind is that with higher outside temps shoes will de-laminate in a hot car (I just toasted a pair of Chili's on a hot day, the entire sole on both shoes came off.)

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
