Android app crashing

I just updated my phone (galaxy nexus) to android 4.3 and now when I try to open the MP app it crashes after a couple seconds. This might have more to do with the OS because people have been having all kinds of issues with the 4.3 update. Anyone else having this problem?

Same problem here. I assume its a new OS issue like you said.

I've got the same problem on my Nexus 7

Same problem, running 4.3 on Nexus 4. I assumed it had to do with the switch from free to pay but it sounds like an OS issue after all. Anyone know who we need to advise?

Bump. Does anyone out there know who to contact?

Bump, same problem on nexus 7. An $8 app that won't work? Can we get some help please?

I found that if you lose network during an area download, the application drains all the system resources. I hadn't followed through with one of my area update downloads, and my phone kept crashing. The problem went away when I deleted that area altogether, so it stopped that infinite loop download...

Anyone have a fix for this yet? Just got a galaxy S4 and the app worked fine for a few minutes, then it started crashing. Tried un installing, then upon reinstall when I try to open it, it says installing, the screen goes black and it crashes.

After lots of problems a couple months ago, we're not aware of any at the moment. Please contact me directly (Use the Contact link) so we can try to diagnose the problem. We need to know what model of phone, what version of the OS, and what area you downloading or looking at when it crashes if relevant.

Thanks

I'm having the same issue as DesertRat (same phone, same OS).

We believe this is happening because these new phones do no support the old (free) version of the app that we discontinued in May. Starting then, we have released updates but they only apply to the new version of the app, and it costs $8.

This wasn't by design: Apple let us start charging for the app but keep the same App ID on the phone, so the updates work even for the old installs. Android, on the other hand, required us to register as a new app when we started charging for it. So if you had the old version, you could re-install it on a new phone, but we removed it from the store when we released the new one.

Bottom line: if you have the old, free version of the app (pre-May 2013), we are unable to support it, and you should install the new version here: play.google.com/store/apps/…

We have confirmed that this fixed the problem for several users.

If you have already bought this new version, you won't have to pay for it again as long as you're using the same Google Play account. Of course it's always possible that there are indeed bugs in the new version, so this is a 100% diagnosis for everyone. If you're still having trouble with the newest version, let us know!

TONS of trouble with the new app (see below). Can you please, please provide an apk for the old version so I can reinstall that? I never had a single problem with that version - it was great. Don't need any support, just want the old version back! Thanks!!

Problems with current version:
- version 2.9 android
- samsung galaxy note 3 AND samsung galaxy s4

- "unfortunately, mountain project has stopped" crashing messages all the time during various browsing of existing downloaded areas.

- can't download photos for multiple areas at once. Instead, have to wait until one area completely finishes photo downloading before I can access the link to download photos for another area. This seriously slows down the process of stocking up beta photos for an area like Eldorado Canyon, with its many sub-areas and hence many "download photos" links. (On that note, would be great to lift the restriction on "download photos" for ANY master area. Most devices these days have ample space to download photo batches for the largest master areas, so the app should allow this to occur without forcing the User to click back and forth between dozens of sub-areas in order to acquire all the photos that might be valuable for a trip.)

- sometimes app endlessly spins on "loading" during navigation from any arbitary page to any other arbitrary page.

Jason:

With the latest version of the app, we’ve had essentially no complaints for several weeks now. I’m wondering if you have a unique hardware or software setup somehow?

Can you try deleting the app entirely and doing a fresh install? I know it sounds lame, but sometimes that works.

Thanks for the reply. I actually already tried an uninstall and reinstall, but the situation persists. I have no special hardware or software connected to my samsung galaxy note 3, other than various other unrelated app installs from the Google Play Store.

My girlfriend has the same problems on her samsung galaxy s4, so it is definitely not just my phone individually.

Is there anyway I can just get the install file for the old version? I'd be happy to pay for it, as I did previously for the first paid version of the app.

myself and user: "Shes such a B" are also both having the android app crash on us with serious frequency. I am on a samsung tablet with the most up to date version of android and she is on a samsung galaxy 3 phone with the most up to date software as well.

+100, will gladly pay(again) to be able to reinstall the version before the black diamond update from hell.

Hi Nick,

Any update on this request? Happy to send you whatever troubleshooting info you may need, but based on mine and ChefMattThaner's reports, this is obviously a systemic problem with the current app version.

If we could just get the apk file for the old version, that would be much, much appreciated.

Seriously banging my head against the wall dealing with the pitfalls of the current app version daily on my current climbing road trip.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
