Here is three different ways to girth hitch around a tree/boulder. I use all three ways depending on the situation. Just make sure you carabiner isn't pressing against the tree or boulder making it dangerous for the carabiner.<br />Then all coming into the middle, equalized and tied into a over hand knot.<br /><br />Using for a forum on rc.com

Here is the way I girth hitch 1 in. webbing around a boulder/tree.<br />The carabiner is not against the rock/tree and if it is I loose the carabiner and put the webbing through the loop.<br /><br />this is for a forum on rc.com

This is a bad example of girth hitch. Notice the direction of pull(toward the camera) and how the carabiner is being mashed up against the rock/tree. This is where you could have problems.<br />SO DO NOT DO IT THIS WAY. <br /><br />Taken for a forum on rc.com<br />
