This area has a few good sized boulders with one extremely classic line on the Largest Boulder.

Getting There

Hike as though you are hiking to Baldy. After you take a left between the fallen tree that has a section cut out to make room for the trail, hike to the top of the first hill. The trail will kind of flatten out but then there will be a section of two foot tall granite right in the middle of the trail that you will have to step on to continue to Baldy. Just before you get to this step take a left into the woods and head towards the large boulder uphill and slightly to your right. Torso Fritter climbs the left side of this boulder.

This classic problem is the low start to Open Wide and is on the Largest Boulder. It starts on the left side (just slightly to the right of the arete) of the face lying parallel to the trail to Baldy. Start scrunched down with your right hand on an ok side pull sloper and left on a small edge to the left in the indented section of rock (your left hand will start slightly lower than your right). Climb up and left to the arete then climb back right to an amazing scoop/jug at the top of the boulde...[more]   Browse More Classics in SD
