The Albuquerque Mountain Rescue team will be performing a high angle technical training on the upper pitches of the Shield in Albuquerque on Sept. 6th. With the poor weather conditions this weekend it is unlikely anyone will be climbing these lines, but please be aware of the parties above and the potential for rock fall.
For the few climbers who experienced rock fall on Procrastination this morning (Sept 6th), the AMRC team sincerely apologizes. The team released at least two softball sized rocks and some smaller pebbles during the beginning of a high angle rescue scenario located on the Escape From The Cyclops. Although we attempted to warn the climbing community of our training operations this weekend, it is clear that we did not reach out broadly enough. On hearing the report that there were climbers initiating Procrastination, the training was cancelled. The team hopes you had a wonderful day in the mountains and we regret that you experienced these additional hazards on your climb. Stay safe out there.
