Description

Cheaha comes from the Cherokee word for "high". This area was developed in the early '70s. There is some decent climbing and good mountain biking here. Jeff Bates, Brad Shaver, and Bill Griggers established most of the routes. There is a "ban" against bolting here, but be aware there are hidden bolts on some of the routes. I did find some bolted anchors at the top of Pulpit Rock on the far right side, you have to down climb. There are three main areas that are climbed/bouldered. There is also a hidden cliff band that is undocumented as far as I know. The main areas are Pulpit Rock, Bald Rock, and Rock Garden. There are boulders everywhere, just walk on the trails and explore. I believe there are even a few aid routes on Pulpit Rock. This place isn't worth visiting unless you are into exploring. I don't have any information as far as names or ratings, anyone that does please help develop this area on MP. Be absolutely sure to sign in with the rangers, this was required as of last fall.
